Christmas Wishes Brighten Holidays for Victoria Families
Every December, Christmas trees in homes, businesses, and landmarks are handsomely decorated with holiday lights and decorations; but, out front of the Chateau Victoria Hotel & Suites—a familiar waypoint on Downtown holiday strolls, the evergreen trees are noticeably plain. That’s because we’re saving room for your personal decoration. In exchange for a small donation to the Times Colonist Christmas Fund, our front desk team will provide an ornament and a slip of paper on which to write one’s Christmas wish. Placing their wish safely inside the ornament, participants hang the decoration in the Forest of Wishes, granting the wishes of those in need by offering their own.
Between December 1, 2017, and January 2, 2018, join locals and travelers alike in adding your wish to the Forest of Wishes. Every donation will also include a chance to win one of two Forest of Wishes prize packages, the recipients of which will be announced upon the fundraiser’s completion. The top prize is a two-night stay in a penthouse suite for up to four people, including a chef-hosted multi-course dinner in Vista 18 Westcoast Grill & Wine Bar. Tagging on-location photos with #CVForestofWishes counts for an additional entry.
December is the most wishful month of the year: children wish for preferred Christmas presents, university students for home-cooked meals, loafers for snow days, families for reunion, and so on; however, many wishes are not so festive—such as clean socks, the next meal, shelter—but they are no less worthy of answer.
The minimum requested donation is $5.00; tax receipts will be issued for donations $20.00 or greater. Donations may also be made by adding to bill of sale of Vista 18 Westcoast Grill & Wine Bar or Clive’s Classic Lounge.
