Stephen Duncan, our Guest Services Agent, was awarded the Victoria Hospitality Award in February for his outstanding service with a customer over the holiday season.
A guest from Seattle had made a special trip to Victoria, BC to do a number of things. On that list, while staying at our hotel, was to enjoy an order of Eggs Benedict from Vista 18. A friend had been raving about Vista 18’s Eggs Benny as being “the best they’d ever had” and this guest couldn’t wait to try it. But this day happened to be our annual special Santa Charity Pancake Breakfast in the restaurant, and the Eggs Benedict was unavailable.
The guest went to the front desk to express their disappointment, and that’s when Stephen decided to help. He felt terrible that they weren’t able to enjoy the breakfast they had so been looking forward to. He decided to work with the kitchen and Room Service to arrange for an order to be prepared and delivered to the guest’s room free of charge. The guest was thrilled! Their disappointment became a wonderful experience that they just had to share with the world.
