Craigdarroch Castle is a sight to see in Victoria! It was built between 1887-1890 for Robert Dunsmuir, a Scottish immigrant who made his fortune in the coal industry. Perfectly situated on a hill with beautiful views of Victoria, the Castle is a pleasant walk from Chateau Victoria located at 1050 Joan Crescent.
Craigdarroch has 39 rooms with lavish furnishings, woodwork, and stained glass windows throughout four floors. There’s also a massive staircase with 87 stairs that lead up to the tower. This is worth the climb because the view up there is breathtaking.
There are 1.75 acres of grounds around the Castle with paths, ponds, streams and meadows. Be sure to allow yourself some time to relax and enjoy a stroll.
Craigdarroch Castle is open 7 days a week, including statutory holidays for self-guided tours. Admission is $13.75 for adults, $12.75 for seniors, $5.00 for children 6-12, and free for children 5 and under.
